For years So.Di.Co has been actively collaborating with the non-profit association Loto in its daily activity in support of women affected by ovarian cancer. Ovarian cancer is the gynecological cancer with the highest mortality rate that most often affects women over the age of 50, but can also affect younger women. The absence of particular symptoms in the early stage means that the diagnosis arrives relatively late in advanced disease.
Any type of tumor deeply affects every person: but ovarian cancer in particular touches an organ symbol of female identity, the organ of fertility, of being a mother and a woman. This is the great daily work done by the volunteers of the Lotus Association: helping women affected by ovarian cancer to face and overcome the disease with courage, optimism and determination.
The sharing of emotions, experiences, experiences is in many cases fundamental to find the strength and courage to fight and continue to live a normal life despite the disease. Together with the volunteers of the Lotus Association, women live the strength of solidarity, do not feel alone in front of the monster of the disease and discover new attitudes, strategies or simple words that help them face the long path of disease and treatment positively.
Together with the meditation and psychological support groups, the moments of yoga and the paths in nature, the Lotus Association organized with So.Di.Co a day dedicated to make up to help women affected by ovarian cancer to rediscover their natural beauty, to enhance their body, their face tried by suffering but even more beautiful with the signs of life. Because taking care of the skin, putting on make-up and also dealing with hair loss with a smile means regaining one’s identity as a woman.
